How Educating Girls Changes the World

What if educating just one girl could transform a village? In this powerful episode of Amplify Your Legacy, host Sallana Brown interviews Melissa Deally, a mind-body health practitioner, bestselling author, and founder of Girls Matter—a nonprofit providing education for girls in Uganda and Kenya. Melissa shares how she’s combining healing, empowerment, and education to create lasting change. From launching holistic wellness programs to creating innovative campaigns like Eat So They Can Study, Melissa reveals how everyone can play a role in building a better future.

When not working with clients, Melissa is either outdoors with her daughters, skiing or hiking, or dedicating her time to her non-profit organization, *Girls Matter*, which focuses on keeping girls in school in Uganda and Kenya, breaking the cycle of poverty one girl, one family, one village at a time.

What does the phrase, “education should be a right, not a privilege” mean to you? If you believe that access to education is not a privilege, but a right as is the human rights law guarantees, then, why are  61 million children not in school, and most of them girls? Educating children no matter where they are is one of the biggest factors toward ending extreme poverty.

Small and Gutsy Interview with Girls Matter Melissa Deally

Melissa Deally of Girls Matter

Mountain FM Radio

Whistler resident and award winning podcaster, Melissa Deally was here to tell us more about Girls Matter, created to stop teenage marriages, by keeping girls in school in Uganda and Kenya and breaking the poverty cycle, 1 girl, 1 family, 1 village at a time. As educating the girls creates a much better future for them and empowers them to give back to their communities. An educated girl is also more than twice as likely to ensure her own girls are educated, which means our work now has a positive generational ripple effect. Check out their website, girlsmatter.ca and look for Melissa’s podcast, Don’t Wait For Your Wake Up Call.

Melissa Deally, also from the West Coast of Canada, and someone also passionate about her calling to help women and girls thrive. Their messages and understanding of the challenges of women in third-world countries are critical for us to know and understand. If we do not know the challenges faced by women around the world, we cannot stand up and be heard and to find a way for all women and girls to matter and to be thriving.
