Meet Faith Mawia

Faith Mawia is a 14 year old girl and the third born in a family of eight, she stays with her parents in Dandora slums, Kasarani Sub county, Nairobi County in Kenya.

She completed her primary level education in the year 2022 and got secondary school admission. Faith comes from a very poor family and she has struggled to complete her primary level education. Her two elder sisters dropped out of school at primary level and ran to the streets five years ago. They live in a temporary house next to the riverbank under electric power lines. They have nowhere to call home because all they had was taken away by the hospital after they failed to pay for a medical bill that had accumulated to Ksh. 3, 576,040/= after the treatment of one of her sisters who suffered from a heart condition. They were left homeless and with no land to settle on. They came to the Capital city to look for a job to sustain them.

Faith’s father Mr. Mwangi and her mother Syombua are very hard working though the little they make every day goes to buy medicine for one of the daughters who has a heart condition. Both parents have no education and they survive on doing casual jobs where each of them is paid $2 per day.

Jali sisters has helped her join school by paying her full school fees and providing necessary requirements.
